Monday 23 August 2004 : GigaStudio 3 absolutely yours in 3 available versions !

Tascam (NemesysMusic was recently merged with) has recently launched GigaStudio 3. This new package of software comes in 3 available editions : Orchestra Edition (unlimited polyphony), Ensemble Edition (up to 160 voices polyphony) and Solo Edition (up to 96 voice polyphony ! **) ***. Program seems to be a major improvement over his (famous) predecessor, let alone the backwards compatibility with the gigantic amount of GigaStudio-compatible old sonic libraries.

Now, let's have a look at the improvements over the old version (GigaStudio 2.5) : better sample playback engine (of course!) (****), better sequencing capabilities (ya! sounds good!), Rewire support (new feature!), VST plug-in support (another interesting new feature!), GigaPulse (TM) component (new feature : has mostly to do with effect processing), better MIDI processing, better sound editing capabilities, old libraries' full compatibility with new version of GigaStudio (sounds natural!) and a fairly satisfactory sound palette given free with the purchase of the product ! ** Is this a solo instrument edition or rather a small orchestra edition indeed ? :-)

*** Remember that a single physical note of an instrument may occupy more than one voice of GigaStudio polyphony (due to technical reasons of sonic perfection). That's why eg. a "GigaStudio" polyphony of 10 voices does not mean that we can always listen to 10 oboes playing at the same time !
