About game music
Recently I had the opportunity to rediscover the music of well-known old game Pac-Mania, which was empty our pockets of coins from around 1990. Well, the one who wrote the music of the game was very talented. While, therefore, is clearly using ideas from previous games on the same topic, the whole approach has mixed in correct humorous elements, and elements of irony and self-sarcasm but also imaginative sound effects. Sounds like "gutsu" and "gloup" - especially when fruit eaten in the center of the screen - do make the pacman look satiate while running on the screen, while the music where it sounds silly and completely happy is taking a dramatic mission where you come to put the laughter - this is obviously done on purpose. The general tone is casual and benevolent: reminiscent of a man who walks whistling happy on the road. The comical phrases are based - apart from "positive" melodic, harmonic and rhythmic relationships - to semitone moves but also "filling" audio effects produced by the synthesizer of the game. The handling of the phrases is supported by only a few voices and minimum technical capabilities but it was perfectly worked. In the game breaks, the tone is playful and combined with humor on display (mob of ghosts which is close to slipping from much haste). In more difficult tracks, the music movement is somewhat more "sophisticated" but with slightly different elements each time. Also, note the following details: when you eat large dots the music lowers : so that when you start to eat the ghosts the effect sounds better. The whole music is very successful : thus, as often as you play the game, the music is hardly bored, regardless of the fact that you keep hearing it in the same way continuously. Attention!
