The way of the famous Greek conductor – from the place of his birth in Arcadia until his death in Scala of Milano – is partly not researched. How did it come that an unconventional character, a lonely, ascetic and basically melancholic human being could reach this level of fame in the days of the famous conductor of the 20th century?
Myron Michailidis, Manager and Artistic Director General of the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, studied piano with Dimitri Doufexis in Athens and conducting at the Berlin College for Music with Hans-Martin Rabenstein and in Dresden with Miltiades Karydis. He conducted several orchestras, such as the Rome Symphonic Orchestra, the Berlin Symphonic Orchestra, the Bucharest and Bratislava Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Radio Orchestra, the Bucharest Radio Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra and theMexican State Orchestra. In Greece he regularly works with all orchestras of the country, as well as with the Greek National Opera. His latest recordings of orchestral works of the Italian composer Ildebrando Pizzetti received the best reviews in the international music press. His opera productions, concerts and recordings have been reviewed very well in the international specialist press, such as in „Diapason“, „Das Orchester“, „Opernwelt“, „Fanfare“,„Gramophone“ as well as in German and foreign daily newspapers (e. g. „Sachsische Zeitung“, „Berliner Morgenpost“, „Der Tagespiegel“, „Corriere della Sera“, „La Repubblica“).
