Takes place from 8 March to 28 May 2006 in Athens, Greece - Artissimo.gr record entry date : Wed 22/Mar/2006
Invitation We meet again for our annual spring appointment at St Paul’s Anglican Church. The church at the end of Philhellinon Street and the organ by Hill furnish the backstage for the Spring Organ Series and create a pleasant atmosphere. The aim of these concerts is to familiarize you with the sounds of the organ, an instrument of Greek origin. The aim is also to enable you to experience a variety of different musical styles and periods, from renaissance to folklore music and from the 16th to the 21st century. Our choices concerning the programme have as their main aim, originality and a high level of performance. This year’s guests, from Greece and abroad, are established musicians with much experience in recordings, and who are pursuing careers as soloists, besides being involved in educational work. Young musicians, who are at the beginning of their musical careers, will also perform in the Spring Organ Series. For the first time in Greece, you will have the chance to hear works for organ duets, works for organ and cello, works for organ and oboe, and the unique combination of the organ with the nyckelharpa (a Swedish traditional string instrument). I welcome you to the 3rd Spring Organ Series 2006 and look forward to sharing some special musical experiences with you.
