Manning Music presents a String Summer School at the Royal College of Music led by Peter Manning .
Peter Manning , Concertmaster of The Royal Opera House and Conductor is leading a String Summer School at the Royal College of Music, London from Monday 19 July - Saturday 24 July 2004 . The week long course will offer participants the chance to study a range of string orchestra repertoire and take part in masterclasses led by Britain 's finest string players. The week will culminate in a public concert.
The course is open to music students studying at a Conservatoire or University.
The string orchestra will cover a range of repertoire from the last 100 years, concentrating on works written by British Composers. One of the works to be studied is Schnittke's String Quartet No. 3 which has been arranged by Peter Manning for String Orchestra.
Sectionals and masterclasses will be led by Gaby Lester , Leader of the Barbican Trio , Philip Dukes, Solo Viola and Head of Strings at Wells Cathedral School, Josephine Knight, Principal Cello of the English Chamber Orchestra and Tony Hougham , Principal Double Bass of The Orchestra of The Royal Opera House.
The masterclasses are open to performers not taking part in the string orchestra - both as participants and audience.
