57th Season of Queens Symphony Orchestra
|  The intimacy of the chamber music format has attracted composers, performers and audiences for more than three hundred years. This expressive genre will be explored through classical and contemporary compositionhen the Queens Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director and Conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos, begins its 57th season with the Masterworks Concert Series String Attached on Saturday, October 24th at 7:30 p.m.
In The New Salon Music, Maestro Kitsopoulos and QSO will begin by paying tribute to the extraordinary chamber works in the classic repertoire, performing the Symphony No. 1 in G Major by C.P.E. Bach, and Divertimento in D Major by W.A. Mozart. QSO will then present the world premiere of Theme on a Variation by Sondheim by Michael Starobin. The evening will also look towards the future of great Chamber Music performances, featuring QSO's 2009 Young Soloist Competition Winner Andrew Lowy performing the impressive Concerto for Clarinet by Aaron Copland.
A Pre-Concert Lecture at 6:30 pm offers an informative talk about the evening's event. Maestro Kitsopoulos and special guest artists will preview and explain the selected pieces and also answer questions about the program. The lecture is free to subscribers and only $5 for ticket buyers.
