Happy Holidays! First let me send my warmest greetings for the holiday season. I'm truly grateful to generous supporters like you who have allowed us to bring high quality orchestral concerts and music education programs to the borough of Queens that reflect our international community.
Through your support, QSO has been able to accomplish so much in 2010.
We expanded our music education programs, including in-school residencies, Young People's Concerts and Symphony 101 library presentations. We commissioned 1001 Voices - A Symphony for Queens, which will be presented over 3 concerts and will tell the story of the immigrant experience in Queens through the orchestra, actors, singers, dancers and multi-media projections. We held our Young Soloist Competition and rewarded several talented instrumentalists. One winner, cellist Nan-Cheng Chen, will play a concerto with QSO on May 14, 2011. Summer Latin Heat was performed at our 12th Annual FREE concert at St. John's University and featured QSO with La Familia Sextet, which had the crowd out of their seats and dancing! We presented our Masterworks Concert Series at QPAC, which featured world premiere compositions by Victoria Bond, Michael Starobin and George Walker in addition to classic chamber works by Bach, Barber and Mozart. Thank you for all you've done already and, in advance, for all you'll do. It means the world to us and to the people being served because of your generosity! DONATE NOW
Sincerely,
Lynda Herndon
