Monday 27 September 2004 : Sound selection for our fantastic new composition !

Experiences

One more magic moment for a music creator is when he designs the instrumentation and the orchestration of his new music composition. Tens or even hundreds of luring sonic combinations are presenting themselves in front of him like the cakes in the candy store - and, unfortunately, at that moment he must choose one and only one possibility so that he can go on !

In the classical genre, one should seriously examine the exact parameters of the instruments : range, timbre, articulations, "ambience" created by them and even how (approximately of course) are going to "blend" into the specific music ensemble. Additionally, each instrument has a possible solistic role and a possible membership in the total sound of the ensemble.

In the more modern case of the orchestration, which can naturally include even sounds generated by synthesizers, searching in a wealth of sonic palettes is rather mandatory. Of course, this investigation is stimulating creator's fantasy and often gives really beautiful novel inspirations - technical concerns and such details are moved aside and the impression that each sound is creating gives the signal for miraculous browsings.

Unfortunately, a few sounds - for reasons of musical economy but also for other technical reasons - should be finally cut out (at least till next time!). So, we have no other choice but to use the selected sonic palette in order to achieve the best possible result.

THE CAREFUL SELECTION OF THE SOUNDS AND THE CORRESPONDING INVESTIGATION USING OUR UNLIMITED FANTASY ARE GIVING US EACH TIME THE BEST MUSICAL SOLUTION FOR OUR FANTASTIC NEW COMPOSITION !
