Personally

Now that the first results are out and they are what they are (!), I must confess that I, myself, also ... send compositions for the RAM-AKMI VTI contest ! Yes, that's right ! You bet I did ! For the general category "Instrumental Music" I sent the composition "Triformity" for the subcategory "Electronica/Ambient/New Age" and the compositions "Classical Afternoon" and "Melodic Story" for the subcategory "Classical" ( sniff!sniff! :-( Have you got any tissues ? :-) ). As you may have probably understood, I had NO composition passing to the second round of the contest (well, I have got accustomed to such kind of failures thanks to A.S.E.P. (**) :-) ). Any way, after a period of mature and concise thinking, I arrived at the following conclusions in order to explain the failure - the reasoning to be exposed below stands out for its ... incomparable logic :

1. The arbiters were drunk when they were listening to the music pieces, and, so, they picked the worst of them.

2. The flood (so ... Zeus is responsible after all!) destroyed my CDs and so the adjudicators did not actually listen to them, but they didn't admit it so as not to lose face ! Yes ! I think this is the case after all !

3. I am rather a "spoiled artist" (as composition of music is concerned) and my writings (that is, my compositions) are rather mediocracy compared to those written by other people (who ? meeeee !? This is totally out of the question!)

4. It's yet another conspiracy of the ... Secret Services.

5. The ones that passed to the next round of the contest didn't have their own website ! (totally irrelevant - but I have to find an excuse for the failure myself, haven't I ? )

Well, I am absolutely sure that reason "3" is not actually sound ! Another thing has happened ( sniff! :-( ) and ... I SHALL FIND IT ! Till then ... sniff! sniff! :-( ... my carrer as a composer is gone ! sniff! :-( ... (***)

** A.S.E.P. is the authority that coordinates and controls the process of employing people to work for the various public services. The specific council stands out for his bureaucratic tendencies :-)

*** The present article is naturally being a bit ... exaggerated. The truth is that the 3 compositions mentioned before were really sent and didn't do it for the next round of the contest, apparently due to their inadequacy. If you are a bit patient you will have the chance to judge them (these ones and a lot of others as well) by listening to them with your own ears ! - named in their original way of course ! Attention - from the contest's official text one can conclude (and this is a very positive fact to mention) that the judges made their decision without knowing each composition's creator ! In general, anyway, one should frankly congratulate the organizers and the contest judges on the competition's conception and implementation - as far as I know, it was the first time for such a contest to take place in Greece - I also hope it won't be the last one ! So, gentlemen you saw the success ! Do it again ! (and then everyone will see my performance ! :-) sniff! )
