Experiences
Well, that was the scene : a common, lucky man travelling by the car almost between the ridges of some of the highest mountains of Southwestern Greece, and music of Aaron Copland (**) being heard at that very moment. The sound of the brass introducing the "Fanfare for the Common Man" (**) was incredibly matching the white, lonely, proud tops in a non-to-be-heard-so-easily accordant, fantastic (non-dancing though) "pas de deux". The trumpet offered the power, the mountains were giving the element of boundless. As the car was rushing between the mountain bulges the music was presenting its very greatest folds - so was the mountainous landscape. That was a kind of absolute magic : God created the mountains and people created the music in an unreachable kind of artistic co-operation. Amen. You can also listen to the following music comment : (**) Aaron Copland (1900-1990) - Copland was one of the pioneers of American music. Among lots of important works of his, he also wrote the "Fanfare for the Common Man" in 1942 at the request of the conductor Eugene Goossens. This is one of his most recognizable works.
