Monday 7 February 2005 : 15 minutes of trumpet
 

Experiences

   It doesn't happen to me often - however, instead of going for anything else I instantly grabbed the trumpet - it was just an unbeatable force - there was no case I wouldn't start playing the trumpet for at least 15 minutes. Fortunately, this time I hadn't any of the difficulties I had in the previous time, when certain notes could not be played or were out of tune - it was rather the humidity or something else then ! Nevetheless, this time things were better. It was just 15 minutes of good trumpet - every single note out of the few was then writing its own melodic story - it was just an entire world by itself ! Well, you know about the trumpet - from a technical view it is one of the most simple instruments - simple mechanism, few available notes, difficult to blow into, you get tired in order to take out the notes. However, each note has its own importance, it's actually live - it is talking to you by itself ! No matter how small a note coming out from the trumpet may be, it is narrative and is expressing our very soul.
   At least that was how I was feeling those moments that I was playing 15 minutes of trumpet. The melodies were very common and simple - not worth a hang one could say, but the self expression was there and present in each blow and each note that was coming out, low or high, easy or hard, loudly or quietly, mincingly or seriously. There was no case that one would not play well - even an amateur as I am - since these moments he has all at once entered another, musical world and is feeling to be nowhere else but there. All the errors I was making while playing for months were all gone as if by magic for 15 minutes. They were yet another 15 minutes of trumpet that have been no small-time because they were coming straight out of the soul. 15 minutes of unique expression that are never coming back. But what am I saying ... Exaggerations ... It was just 15 minutes of trumpet.
