Frederic Chopin's last piano, made by Pleyel, has been recently found in a country house museum in the South of England. That was the piano that Chopin used in his final concert tour in England before he died. The instrument was part of the collection of Alec Cobbe, a collector of old instruments. Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger has recently tracked the instrument down, by identifying the frame serial number and comparing it with Pleyel's own files. Chopin used to play exclusively on Pleyel pianos : that was part of a deal with the factory owner. He also thought that those instruments matched his music perfectly.
