NATIONALITY George Gershwin (1898-1937) : George Gershwin was American. IN GENERAL George Gershwin (1898-1937) : Gershwin is one of the most inspired musicians of the New World, which dealt exclusively with the genre of jazz, writing even symphonic music full of jazz elements with a very big success. Except the orchestral music Gershwin also dealt with songs, musical comedies, piano music, even with operas, always moving around the idiom of jazz which Gershwin also enriched with elements of classic musical literature (and the other way round!). The result was a "bright" musical output that made a lot of people that love jazz music to hear works of classic literature and devotees of classic music to hear more jazz ! Isn't it this way, to say it simply, the best way to do it ? STYLE George Gershwin (1898-1937) : Using each single technique of harmony, instrumentation and generally of composition of the classic faculty, Gershwin gave the jazz music an other boost and an other level of "musical effectiveness". Gershwin's fantastic talent joined two quite different worlds in the better possible way using great art and aptitude. Gershwin's works are even nowadays performed with very big success, since they satisfy even the most "difficult" ears of audiences by combining natural talent, intense sense of rhythm, irreproachable technical and much hard work, so that the final splendid result is achieved. WORKS George Gershwin (1898-1937) : Gershwin's work is diachronic - and is performed a lot nowadays - containing a lot of works of vocal music as well : A black opera (Porgy and Bess), twelve musical comedies, "Rhapsody in Blue", a concert and 2 rhapsodies for piano and orchestra, "An American in Paris", "Cuban Overture" for symphonic orchestra, Jazz preludes for piano and a lot of songs.
