Frederic Chopin (1810-1849)

NATIONALITY

Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) : Frederic Chopin was Polish.

IN GENERAL

Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) : Chopin is one of the most inspired romantic composers. Chopin's work is mainly about the piano, which by his time had already been perfected, and for which Chopin has composed pieces of grand beauty and also of high artistic value. No one can afford to think of a pianist who has not deal in depth with the work of Chopin, which is judged almost as insuperable in volume, but, most important, in quality.

STYLE

Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) : Chopin naturally uses the homophonic style but with fairly advanced harmonious habits for his epoch. A fineness but also an "aristocratic" politeness are characterizing his melodic passages, which are supported by smart, romantic harmonies. Chopin's works for the piano are presenting challenges for pianists of any possible level both in the technical level and in the performance quality because they combine both of them in the most indefectible way. Chopin perfected popular dances like the Polonaise, the Mazurka and the Waltz.

WORKS

Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) : Chopin's output is mainly about the piano : 2 concertos, 15 polonaises, 51 mazurkas (local dance - the meter is 3/4), 28 preludes (small autonomous pieces), 20 nocturnes (pieces of a nostalgic character), 27 studies (technical difficulties are combined with beautiful lines), 19 waltzes, 4 ballads, 4 impromptus ("heuristic" compositions of small size), 4 scherzos, 4 rondos (both are parts of the form of sonata), 3 sonatas, some variations and various other works for piano. Moreover, certain works of chamber music and several songs.
